The Snow Lake Trek is one of the most famous and challenging treks in the Karakoram Range, located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. This trek takes you to Snow Lake, a vast basin of ice and snow surrounded by towering peaks, including the majestic Hispar and Biafo glaciers. The journey typically starts from Askole, a small village that serves as the gateway to many treks in the region. The route involves crossing rugged terrains, steep passes, and glacial streams, making it a demanding adventure suitable for experienced trekkers. Along the way, you’ll witness breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, deep valleys, and pristine landscapes. The highlight of the trek is reaching Snow Lake, a high-altitude glacial basin at around 4,800 meters, which offers a surreal and otherworldly experience. The trek usually takes around 10-12 days to complete and requires proper preparation, including physical fitness, acclimatization, and essential gear.
